Hello DocBobby here. I would like to chat about a subject that is quite lacking in our society today. However, I going to approach it on what I observe in the Emergency Department. Why is there a lack of Accountability in our Society? What is Accountability? Accountability is associated with accepting responsibility for one’s actions or answer ability or being liable for one’s actions.
There are several illnesses that I see in the Emergency Department because of the lack of accountability by patients. These illnesses I label as poor LifeStyle Choices such as: Heart Attacks, Heart Disease, Strokes, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, Obesity. The list is endless. Yet, when I talk to patients, as Personal Trainer and Fitness Expert Robin Bernal states: Most people have more excuses than the law allows. It is always someone else’s fault. My Pop had shared with me at a young age that most folks problems are caused by the Man in the Mirror. Pop also said the following: when you are pointing at someone else that they are at the root of all your problems, notice you have 3 or 4 fingers pointing back at you. If it is to be, it is up to me. I would like to hear back from you on how you overcame your lack of accountability.
